Whether you're a sole trader with a ute and a set of tools or running a building company with a crew and subcontractors, the paperwork doesn't stop when the job's done. BAS, contractor payments, payroll, super and tax all need to be right, usually while you're on site.

We look after the numbers for electricians, plumbers, carpenters, builders, landscapers and other trades, so you know what you've earned, what you owe and what you can claim.

We work with clients across Melbourne from our offices in Mount Waverley, Port Melbourne and North Melbourne.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to lodge a taxable payments annual report (TPAR)?

If your business provides building and construction services and pays contractors to do that work, you'll generally need to lodge one. The TPAR is due by 28 August each year, and we can prepare and lodge it for you.

Do I have to pay super for my subcontractors?

Sometimes. If a contractor is paid mainly for their labour, you may need to pay super for them even if they have an ABN. We'll help you work out who's covered.

When do I need to register for GST?

Once your GST turnover reaches $75,000 a year, or is expected to. Some tradies register earlier so they can claim GST credits on tools and materials. We'll help you decide what suits you.

Can I claim my ute or van?

Usually, if you use it for work. How much you can claim depends on who owns the vehicle, how much it's used for work and the records you keep, such as a logbook. We'll help you claim it correctly.

Should I be a sole trader or a company?

It depends on your income, your risk and your plans. A company can offer asset protection and a lower tax rate on profits kept in the business, but it costs more to run. We'll compare the options using your numbers.
